Before this project, the SCI was submitted to the Minister as a plain Word document, and it was clear that this important document needed a more appropriate and professional presentation.
To manage the large volume of text, I used photography from the GNS Science Visual Image Library. GNS geologists work extensively in the field, providing access to remote and visually striking New Zealand landscapes. These images help break up dense content and reinforce the organisation’s connection to place.
As an internal document rather than a public GNS Science publication, the SCI allowed more freedom with typography and colour. This supported a more distinctive visual language while maintaining clarity and readability for ministerial and executive readers.
